Only a handful of Russian scientists would agree with the view that ex-minister Livanov "seemed the right person to push through a series of reforms to get Russian science back on course". In fact, he was extremely unpopular among scientists. It is also unfortunate to hear that Editors of Nature completely forgot countrywide protests against the scandalous pogrom of the Russian Academy of Sceinces masterminded by Livanov and Putin in 2013. Livanov's performance in the education sector was also evaluated as mediocre by many professors and teachers because of the exorbitant bureaucratization - a disheartening symbol of his numerous "reforms".

Jewish scientists left Russia; that is the problem.
